American Geographical Society

Established in 1851, American Geographical Society (AGS) is the oldest professional geographical organization in the United States. It has been recognized worldwide as a pioneer in geographical research and education for over 167 years.

AGS facilitates Geography 2050, a multi-year, strategic dialog that convenes thought leaders from academia, government, industry, and the social sector to discuss vital trends that are reshaping the geography of our planet in the coming decades. Omidyar Network is supporting AGS to launch the EthicalGEO initiative to address ethical issues around geospatial data and technology, and spur creative thinking and action on this matter.

To learn more about and apply for AGS’s EthicalGEO fellowships, please visit: www.ethicalgeo.org.
